There are studies released almost daily, aimed at capturing important issues, interests, trends, opportunities and insights related to women. From beauty campaigns, dating sites and blogs, to magazines, contemporary fitness classes and everything between, there’s always something or someone ready to capture the hearts and pocketbooks of ladies of all cultures, religious beliefs, hues, shapes and sizes.
Capturing and keeping women’s attention, however, isn’t so simple. Women are as complex as the lives they lead. Today’s woman is often juggling motherhood with her professional life, trying to stay fit and healthy while still enjoying life’s little splurges, like vacationing or connecting with friends. Given this nature of multitasking, sacrifice and the quest to maintain balance, the question often is asked: Can women truly “have it all?” Well, one thing to keep in mind is that no two women are the same, so what “all” is to one, may be nothing at all to another. What is clear is that when it comes to creating legacies for families, communities and cultures in general, women make things happen and keep things moving.
This is particularly true among women of color, and brings another layer of complexity to their consumer equation. From my own mother and grandmother, to the CEO of my company and others who have inspired and walked before me, there is an inarguable truth that these women have managed to overcome obstacles and synthesize countless messages—to be all things to all people while still paving the way and nurturing others to bloom.
In honor of Women’s History Month, we salute the companies, brands, institutions and establishments who care enough not just to provide opportunities for and talk thoughtfully with this key consumer during March, but that respect her time, talents and treasures every day of the year.
If you have a specific example of a company, brand or resource that does a great job of providing opportunities for, and staying connecting with women, feel free to send a simple post to shout them out!
